India’s daily Covid toll dips below 200 after 227 days

India recorded 161 deaths from Covid-19 on Sunday, the first time in nearly seven-and-a-half months (227 days) that the daily toll from the pandemic had fallen below 200, even as fatalities during the week declined by 14% as compared with the previous seven days. The last time the countrywide daily death toll was recorded below 200 was on May 28 last year.
